On March 23, 2017, Boston’s business and community leaders joined Casa Myrna, Metro Credit Union, and Newmarket Business Association to celebrate José Massó, Shelagh Mahoney, and Sue Sullivan  for their contributions to the movement to end domestic violence. Casa Myrna’s premier annual event recognizing our essential entrepreneur and policymaker partners included a lively networking reception with hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and desserts generously provided by our sponsors.  The awards ceremony featuring inspiring remarks by the three honorees, as well as by Casa Myrna CEO Stephanie Brown and Felix G. Arroyo, Chief of Health & Human Services for the City of Boston.

2017 Honorees

José Massó

Civic Engagement Award of Excellence, presented by MA State Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz (2nd Suffolk District)

José has been the beloved host of WBUR’s ¡Con Salsa! since 1975 and serves as the Director of Policy at Massport. He is a decades-long friend of Casa Myrna, a mentor and teacher, and a lifelong advocate for patria y cultura in Boston.

Shelagh Mahoney, Eastern Salt

Corporate Engagement Award of Excellence, presented by Thomas G. Ambrosino, City Manager of Chelsea, MA

Shelagh is the CEO & owner and the general manager of Eastern Salt Company. She lives in Lowell, MA, her lifelong home, and is a philanthropist, champion for the arts, and member of the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce.
