Georgianna Meléndez to Present Keynote Address
at UMASS Boston Take Back the Night

Georgianna Meléndez will present the Keynote Address at UMASS Boston’s second annual Take Back the Night on April 20th. The days’ events will begin at 10am and presentations will focus on same-sex intimate partner violence presentation, healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, rape myths and facts, and men as allies in the fight against violence against women. Meléndez’ presentation, which will focus on domestic violence and creating social change in your own neighborhood, will begin at 4;00pm.

Take Back the Night is an international rally and march organized for the purpose of increasing community awareness of violence against women, children and families. Throughout its history, Take Back the Nighthas inspired both women and men to confront a myriad of social ills, including rape, sexual violence, domestic violence, violence against children, and violence against women. The unifying theme throughout these diverse topics is the assertion that all human beings have the right to be free from violence, the right to be heard, and the right to reclaim those rights if they are violated.
