Thank you for supporting Casa Myrna this holiday season! Your generosity helps us provide shelter and other services to survivors, answer calls 24/7 at the SafeLink Hotline and educate teens and adults about healthy relationships. We are grateful for the dedication of our many friends, including the French American Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Network, Tufts University Experimental College Philanthropy, Nonprofits and Community/Jumbo Dreams and the family of Mary Lawson Foreman. You also made our holiday drive the most successful ever, providing gifts to 144 survivors and children from our three shelters and the community. Please view our video to hear thanks from survivors and staff.
Domestic Violence in Massachusetts in 2014
We mourn the eleven Massachusetts victims of domestic violence homicide whose lives were cut short in 2014. Click here for more information and to view the up to date list at Jane Doe, Inc.’s website. While this is just one indicator that there is still a great deal of work to be done on this issue, it is important that we acknowledge the significant efforts that have been made. Over the past eight years, First Lady Diane Patrick has been a powerful advocate for survivors, sharing her voice to support, comfort and inspire us all. As her time in the public eye comes to a close this year, Casa Myrna would like to thank her for her deep commitment to the issues of sexual assault and domestic violence. Save the Date!
Join us on March 31, 2015, 6:00-8:30 p.m. for our annual Make It Your Business Networking Reception at 1071 Massachusetts Avenue (Metro Credit Union). This annual event engages business leaders from throughout the Greater Boston area to prevent domestic violence. We are thrilled that Governor Baker will give remarks. Click here for more information regarding sponsorship opportunities and ticket sales.
Also save the date for Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Wyndham Boston/Beacon Hill for a very special morning. The Sixth Annual Community of Conscience Breakfast is Casa Myrna’s signature event – it raises critical funds for our work with domestic violence survivors and their children and educates people about domestic and dating violence. Thank you to the inspiring speakers, award recipients and generous guests who made our 2014 breakfast a great success. Click here to view photos.
