Georgianna Meléndez named one of Boston Business Journal's '40 under 40'

The Boston Business Journal has selected Casa Myrna Vazquez Executive Director Georgianna Meléndez as a recipient of its 2006 “40 under 40” award. Presented every year to members of the Greater Boston area’s new generation of business leaders and innovators, the awards honor 40 outstanding professionals under the age of 40 for their contributions to the community and their achievements in business. This year’s awardees were selected from a pool of over 280 nominees, which the judging committee characterized as being the most competitive ever. The Boston Business Journal’s 9th annual event honoring the 40 Under 40 awardees will be held on Thursday, October 5, at 5:30 p.m. at the Westin Waterfront Hotel.

Casa Myrna Vazquez is a Boston-based organization dedicated to ending domestic violence in the lives of women and children through advocacy, prevention and intervention. What began in 1977 as a single shelter accommodating eight families has grown into New England’s foremost provider of shelter and comprehensive services to abused women and their children, operating the 24/7 statewide domestic violence hotline SafeLink (877-785-2020), emergency shelters and transitional living houses.
